The rules on this league are still being finalized, but we’ll give you a general overview.
Either prior to or during the draft we’ll play No Limit Texas Hold ‘Em. This will affect the draft in one of three ways. Right now, throwing all 3 around. Might do signups for 2 or all 3 of them and let the people decide which format(s) they like best.:
1) Win the hand, win the pick. Everyone starts with a “bank” of $500, and from that is given $25 in chips. Each dollar is $1 FAAB for the regular season. When/if you bust, you rebuy from your bank for $25 more. This continues until we have played a specified number of hands (roughly 70) or you bust out completely. Whomever wins at poker receives 15% of the prize pool Once the poker game is done, there is a supplemental draft. Person with the fewest number of players first, lowest FAAB left goes first and makes a pick. You don’t enter the draft until the people behind you have enough players to catch up to you. Eventually everyone is in, and it concludes as a normal draft
2) Everyone starts with $1,000 in the “bank” and from that is given $40 in chips. Each dollar is $1 FAAB. When you bust, you rebuy $40 more from your bank. This proceeds for a number of hands set in advance. Whomever has the most chips after poker will receive 15% of the prize pool. Afterwards, there is an auction draft with each player having the amount they won as their cash for it. Whatever is left after auction is your FAAB for the year.
3) Win the hand, win the pick. Everyone buys in for X dollars. Everyone will be required to post a 20X “bond” at the beginning. When you bust, you are required to rebuy, even on the last hand. Winner of Poker gets 15% of the prize pool, however much was accumulated. Supplemental draft afterwards. Waivers are rolling. This is the format I played a couple years. For reference, we did $20 buy/rebuys in a 10 person table and the last one I did I think hit $2,240 with one guy being the inaugural member of the $500 club (he spent that). It’s fun, but pricey as hell and likely not the best format for us. But I want to offer it as an option.
